Design optimization is depending upon selecting the correct material
to achieve the required criteria as per the table of "design
requirements versus material properties" which identifies the
critical design requirements and material properties that influence
them.
Careful examination of the properties required for a particular
design and the ranking of these properties in order of importance
will assist the designer in selecting of material that has the required
combination of properties.
